Cooking Thanksgiving dinner for the first time! And, by the way, I'm a guy!
***************************************************************************
Cooking a Thanksgiving dinner for the first time and keeping everything timed.
First, decide on a target time, when you hope everything will be done.
Basically, decide when you "think" you're going to eat, (add an hour).
Then set alarms in your clock program, (see below), when everything goes on to
cook, how long to cook, and at what temperature. Most of the clock programs will
allow you to name as many alarms as you might need. So when the alarm goes off,
it tells you what needs to be tended to, i.e. turkey-in or -out, gravy, ham,
potatoes, etc. By the way, don't unset an alarm until you do what it tells you
to do, I have found that's the best way to burn something!
Using the clock program worked out great, I spent most of the day while cooking,
out in the backyard playing with my son, I had my Smartphone with me, and it
alerted me when to do what as far as the cooking thing goes. I didn't have to
sit dead in the kitchen waiting for something to start smoking. Hmmm, I think
I'll shoot for cooking Thanks Giving Dinner next year too!
Now, you did notice that I never said it tasted good! Well, I've got a nice
family, they didn't say anything either. So maybe I did ok. But at least the
cooking process was fairly easy and not stressful.
By the way, these clock programs are the ones I use as an alarm clock everyday.
I don't have to worry about packing my travel clock or hoping I don't miss that
wakeup call. Since I get up every morning at the same time, the Smartphone is
already set and it even changes the time with every time zone I cross. So I
never have to worry if I have the correct time or not. Verizon keeps my
Smartphone only about a second or so off of the US government atomic clock.
(Below). Clock programs allow you to set as many alarms as you would ever
possibly need. I use "Clock-Pro", it's about 5 years old that I know
of. There are many programs out there, you just have to search through and
figure out which ones you like and don't like. Some have more "Whistles
& Bells", meaning it's more difficult to use. Some have no more than
just a simple alarm clock type features. Most of these programs will allow you
to display a clock on the screen, either in analog or digital. This way you have
your desk and travel clock with you all the time. I don't like leaving my screen
on all day though. I guess I use my Smartphone too much to have a clock display
running.
Figure out the cooking sequences with a small amount of timing, send an email
with "ebook" in the subject to receive a free version of the ebook at:

Editorial - Pre-Employment Research
======================
Employers do not want to get stuck with an employee who has lied on their
application, and might not be able to perform the position applied for, or be
qualified for the position offered. It is easier to avoid hiring them in the
beginning. Rather than having to go through the time and expense of releasing
them later.
There are things at your organization that you might want to protect from
particular individuals. Such as company asset's and other objects of monetary
value, including money itself. If the individual had a past of embezzlement,
fraud, or just plan thievery, you wouldn't want this individual to have access
to the company assets or other protected equipment. Now you can perform this
type of research yourself; find out before you hire, check out The Handbook for
the Information Professional.
http://www.robertlett.com/order.htm#ib
Company trade secrets might also be a good reason for a pre-employment
screening. Some of what goes on at your organization, may not be considered as
trade secrets, but what if your competitor new all the moves you where making
(or about to make) in your market? Could this be damaging to your bottom line?
Just calling the phone numbers on a job application just isn't enough.
Employment history is an easy thing to fake. All it takes is to have a few
friends with a phone. Even when legitimate numbers are on the job application,
all the employer can really give is the dates of employment, salary, and job
title. Many employers now fear being sued by former employees who are refused a
job because of negative information provided by them during a pre-employment
screening. Occasionally, these suits are successful.
When calling the phone numbers on an application, always check with directory
assistance to make sure the number is the business the applicant entered on the
application. Contact Personnel or the Human Resources Department instead of the
name the applicant entered on the application.
If you or your company is seeking factual data to resolve a crisis or you just
need information to fulfill a plan. Learn where and how to get that information
and how it can be used to benefit your situation. The Handbook for the
Information Professional. http://www.robertlett.com/order.htm#ib
You can learn how to find this information and much more. You can do this
research yourself, we'll show you how. To see more options: The Handbook for the
Information Professional. http://www.robertlett.com/order.htm#ib You will be
glad you did.
For almost all of the information mentioned in these (Pre-Employment Screening)
articles, permission from the applicant is required before any research can be
performed. It is always a good idea to also check your local laws in the state,
which you will be working, for specific laws on this type of information
retrieval prior to beginning your research efforts.
To obtain individual credit reports, you must have the applicant's permission
and signature on file. You might also check out liability insurance if you plan
to do this type of research as a third party broker. The insurance can usually
be obtained for around $1800 per year with a $3000 deductible. If you are using
a broker yourself, always ask if they have liability insurance.
Workers compensation research; you are not allowed to perform this type of
research unless the applicant has been offered employment.
