Keeping it Dry and Usable. By Brad Ketai of Kwik Tek.

DRY PAK is the new industry standard in waterproof cases. DRY PAKs are an
absolute necessity for today's on-the-go active lifestyle. Whatever activities
you enjoy in or near the water, there's a DRY PAK for you. DRY PAKs provide
simple, user-friendly, effective protection for cell phones, cameras, GPSs, PDAs
and other gear.
DRY PAKs feature a cam lock clip that hermetically seals out water, sand and
dust. Simply twist the knobs upwards to open; twist back down to seal. It' s
that simple.
They float too! The clear material used in many of the DRY PAK models is not
vinyl, it's TPU, thermo-plastic polyurethane. TPU is 5 times stronger than
vinyl, yet it allows you to speak and listen clearly through the phone, VHF
radio, GPS and PDA cases.
Our PDA / Smart Phone case comes with a stylus holder on the outside of the
case. You will be able to operate the PDA while inside the case and you can talk
and listen while locked in the case with less than a 5% loss of audio.
You will be able to use our Dry Pak cases in extreme heat or cold with little to
no change to the TPU material. You can now be on the beach, near or in the ocean
or pool and working out in inclimate weather with no worries of having your PDA
by your side.

Camping - The middle of nowhere:

Camping - The middle of nowhere.
I love being out in the middle of nowhere. Where the hassle and bustle of all
that goes on in life, is gone - empty. Time for the inner you to heal. OK,
enough of that! I just like sitting next to a campfire while I stare through the
woods. Those cool crisp mornings as I start the bacon and eggs, while the smell
of coffee percolates in the background. There you have it, my favorite office!
Even on the occasional rain, I'll slide back into my tent and enjoy the sounds
as the rain bounces off the tent. Still staring through the trees, and the
silence.
Wow, Sorry about that, OK, I'm back. I'm typing this as I sit waiting for the
rain to stop. And if it goes into the night, that would be great! Because I
could sleep like a baby in this! Sorry, I keep drifting; this is one of my most
favorite places!!! Miles from anywhere and anyone.
Being able to do whatever business needs to be done from anywhere, and I mean
anywhere! Well, ok, you do need to have a digital signal if you want to stay
connected. Sometimes I like being "not-connected", if you know what I
mean. Most of the day-to-day operations can be handled at any moment in time.
Even out here, away from it all.
The point is this; If I feel like "taking care of business", I can be
typing and conducting that business within 10 seconds. No booting up for a
paragraph or two!!! Another words; I take care of what needs to be taking care
of, and I'm back enjoying the scenery. Actually, this article was written in
probably 10 parts, even though there aren't 10 paragraphs, hmmm. Life is grand!
Breaks are needed! There's beer in the cooler!
Out here I should be writing about nature, but I'm enjoying myself too much.
This is the kind of place I'd rather just sit back and live life.

Did I tell you this?:

We Toured a Hurricane on our summer Vacation.
We took a vacation out to the east coast to visit my relatives in late August
2004. This is the way it went:
The "Windy City" has nothing on our vacations. A little island town
off the coast of South Carolina called Pawley's Island. A quaint little
(usually) quiet island, but not when we show up. All hell brakes loose!
After starting in Los Angeles on an August morning around 6:00 AM, we arrive in
Myrtle Beach around 8:00 PM. With a 16-month-old little boy in tow, should I go
further in the definition of a "long day"?
By the time we arrive at the beachfront bungalow, it's about 10:00 PM. And our
bags, of course, were still in LA, or at least somewhere in-between. Probably in
a cargo pit black hole!
Once at the house we visited for a few minutes before literally passing out. The
hurricane Gaston arrived at around 1:00 AM, just 2 hours after we passed out and
1 hour before our luggage arrived. I wouldn't want that job. The house, being on
stilts, rocked back and forth in the high winds. That was probably one of the
reasons I never woke up. It just kept rocking back to sleep.
The next morning was wonderful. There was more liquid sunshine coming down
(rain), but now it was in more of a horizontal direction. If you timed it just
right, you could make it to the corner of the beach side porch without getting
totally soaked. And from there, we would 'judge' the lightening strikes hitting
the large swells in the ocean. Which at this time, the ocean had made it 5 to 10
feet from the back door. I'm just glad the door was 10 feet off the sand,
remember the stilts?
Sandblasting, no need to rent one! The sand of the east coast is very fine, and
when it's blown at 80 miles per hour it has a very nice sandblasting effect. No
need to shave, sandblasting removes the hairs at the root! Of course, this
almost blinded me in the process.
The house next door got struck by lightening, (this was about the time we came
in off the porch)! We lost power and the phone lines went dead. We didn't even
have a battery-operated radio to listen to. We really didn't know where we
stood. With my Smartphone I kept abreast of the weather & made sure that an
evacuation of the island wasn't in progress. And if it did occur, we would have
been the first to know.
I setup alert paging through Verizon(TM) to page me at any time when the weather
in our zip code went into an emergency state. Which it did twice! But it was
only 60 to 80 mph winds. Hmmm, that's all? The east coasters are funny about
those storms, I guess if the speeds don't go over 100 mph, it's not much of a
storm to them.
