A Picture of a Thousand Words:
*******************
I currently have about 350 pictures and videos
of my Son, family, and friends that I carry with me where ever I go. And that
number is currently growing at an alarming rate.
For those of you who are a Real Estate investors, FireViewer, see below, is a
must. I've got pictures of all the properties we own, plus properties that we
are considering purchasing. See below for a full explaination of FireView's
operation. And other viewers that have their particular uses.
FireViewer Suite is a great graphics program that can be found at
www.palmgear.com. This software offers:
Large and full screen picture views. Another words, you can load full size
pictures and either view the entire picture on the Palm screen or you can zoom
in to see particular parts of the picture close up. This is a great feature for
business pictures or images that you might need to see numbers or other symbols
on a busy picture.
Pictures and movies can be stored on your external memory card so that you can
save your internal memory.
Formats supported are: JPEG, GIF, BMP, PCX, PNG, TIFF, AVI, MOV, and many more.
Almost all of the popular formats are supported by FireViewer. You can't view
raw images with FireViewer, you must convert them on your desktop and Hot Sync
them onto the unit.
With add-on software, FireProducer, you can send live webcam video to your
wireless unit. This is real nice if you monitor areas for work or the entrance
to buildings. It's nice to have the ability to have all your monitoring features
in the Palm of your hand, anywhere - anytime.

SplashPhoto is another great graphics program that can be found at
www.palmgear.com. This software offers many of the same features as FireViewer
with some extra features.
With SplashPhoto you are presented with a screen of thumbnails, and you just
select the one you want to see. From there, just hit the up or down arrow on
your Smartphone and page through each picture, one at a time. You can also set a
slideshow to run while the unit is in it's cradle and on charge.
You can load or download pictures directly from the internet and view them with
Splashphoto. This is a great feature, unlike Fireviewer, where you have to
convert the image into a database image before viewing. You can view pictures
taking with your camera-phone or your digital camera if the camera uses the same
external memory card. Some pictures will auto-crop, meaning some of the picture
will not be viewable. I've found this to happen a lot with 5 mega pixel digital
cameras and up.
To see how, send an email with "ebook" in the subject to receive a
free version of the ebook at: ebook@robertlett.com
I'm leaving for Australia in three days. Myself and my wife will be touring
Australia and diving the Great Barrier Reef for about 5 weeks. My next article
will be about using the Palm Pilot as your dive log.
Have a great September!
